Our Community of
Scholars
The National Research Center for Women & Families promotes the health and well-being of women, children, and families, by using objective, research-based information to encourage new, more effective programs and policies. The Center achieves its mission by getting the word out about research information that has important implications for the health, safety, and general well-being of women, children, and families. We gather and analyze existing information and translate that information into clearly presented facts and policy statements that are made widely available to the public, the media, and policy makers. We therefore rely heavily on the work of academic researchers and other experts who often disseminate their findings through academic articles and professional meetings, but don't have the time to write articles for magazines or newspapers or to set up meetings with their Congressional representatives.
If
you are a researcher whose work is relevant to the health and
well-being of women, children, or families, please tell us about
it. We will try our best to make the information more widely available.
Researchers wanting to get more involved and who meet our membership
criteria may join our Research Network. We hope to work with our community of scholars on a regular basis. Our center can provide training and assistance for researchers who want to learn to work more effectively with the media or to become more involved in public policy. We can also help researchers with similar or complementary interests get in touch with each other.
