Only so many animals can be housed at a shelter. Anyone seeking to adopt or foster a pet should go to: Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center on Facebook. Photos of available fur-babies along with information on the animal can be found easily by taking animal-lovers to www.adoptapet.com.
For those who are uncertain about a permanent commitment to an animal, the option of fostering is available. The application to adopt or foster, the adoption fee, and the opportunity to schedule a visit with the animal are all provided on the link. Foster homes are important to help prepare animals for adoption, relieving them of the stress they are under at a shelter.
“Animals play an important role in many people’s lives; they are valued companions. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts, stay home sick less often, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. The simple act of stroking a pet can help lower blood pressure,” – according to Dana Casciotti, PhD, and Diana Zuckerman, PhD, National Center for Health Research.
Now is the time to mark the calendar for Paws for a Cause 2025. The Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center is planning to make the Saturday, Nov. 1 event better and more successful than last years. Their mission for this event is to raise money to help DeKalb County residents with spay/neuter costs. The program has fixed over 100 pets with last year’s proceeds, and hundreds more since it started.
