Improving Outcomes for Long COVID-19 Patients

The National Center for Health Research’s 17-month project on Long COVID, is partially funded through a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®) Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award (EASC-COVID-00344). The project began in September 2021 and ended on January 31, 2023.

This project, entitled “Engaging Stakeholders in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research and Clinical Effectiveness Research to Improve Outcomes for Post-Acute COVID-19 Patients” aims to strengthen collaboration among healthcare providers, patients, disability experts, payers, and employers. It enables these groups to share their experiences with treatments and interventions and encourage engagement in research aimed at improving patients’ outcomes. Our long-term objective is to inspire collaborative research efforts targeted to the patient centered outcomes and clinical effectiveness to answer key questions about specific treatments and interventions for specific patient groups. As part of this project, we hosted 6 virtual 1-hour teleconferences and one in-person brainstorming conference in Washington, D.C. in October 2022.
